For Cop Sake skateboard auction

Feeling very lucky to have been asked to be part of Route One’s COP23 Skateboard Auction “For Cops sake”

Which aims to send a message from the skate community to world leaders, gathered in Glasgow, to take the bold steps required now, for all our sakes and to raise money for the Environmental Justice Foundation to battle climate inequality.

The Route One store will be transformed on the 1st November from a retailer of skateboards, clothing and footwear, into a Skateboard Art Showroom, displaying artwork donated by Skate Artists, from around the world, for COP26.

The works capture the artists’ response to the Climate Crisis and send a message from the skate community to world leaders, to take the bold steps required now, for all our sakes!

The show will culminate in an online auction on Friday 12th November at 6pm (GMT), hosted by Forum Auctions. 100% of the proceeds from the Auction will go to Environmental Justice Foundation (Charity No. 1088128).

About my Board

My entry for this charity auction is a piece I have named “Trapped in a Plastic World”. I wanted to depict an intelligent being trapped in a world it cannot escape itself, without intervention from someone with greater powers. (the leaders at COP26). The octopus can only reach out one arm to escape its plastic world. The only way the octopus can be released from its plastic world is for the leaders to intervene and cut it free from its world of plastic.

I created the board using a range of materials, the octopus is giclee printed, I then mounted the print on foam board to give it a 3D appearance. I then cut my bottle out of a sheet of perspex and sprayed it with spraypaint. The final touch was to place the final printed tentacle on top of the bottle to give the illusion of the octopus reaching its arm out of the bottle..

Thank you everyone who bidded on my "Trapped in a Plastic World" skateboard at Route One on the 12th of November.
The hammer fell at £260! All the money goes straight to Environmental Justice Foundation to battle climate inequality.
